Al Graduated from Cooper High School in 1980 then attended North Hennepin Community College and received his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Commercial Art and Graphic Design in 1982. He went into the Printing field and worked there from 1982 until 1998. While working full time, he attended North Hennepin Community College and the Center for Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement and graduated with an Associate in Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement in 1998.
Al was first elected Secretary of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Deputies Association (HCSDA) in November of 2006, Al was elected as President of the Deputies Association in November 2008, and was again re-elected in November 2010. Serving in some of the worst economic years in decades, his dedicated association members have successfully worked to reestablish the association and open better lines of communication. This has been accomplished by bringing its members an open line of communication, working on political connections such as the Political Action Committee, advancing their role in the community, and launching themselves into the technological age with their new website.
Al has been married for 27 years to his wife Nancy. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation.
